Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca: Full-Day Adventure
Set off early from Cusco towards the town of Cusipata, where we start our day with a hearty breakfast. From there, we continue to Phulawasipata, the starting point of our hike. As we trek through breathtaking Andean landscapes, passing grassy plains and small communities, the majestic mountains provide a stunning backdrop.
The hike, which takes approximately 3 hours, will take us through changing vegetation and cooler air as we approach the Rainbow Mountain. At our destination, marvel at the striking geological formations and the vibrant spectrum of colors ranging from red to yellow and green. Enjoy ample time to rest, capture photographs, and soak in the spectacular views.
Afterward, we descend back to Cusipata for a satisfying lunch before returning to Cusco in the afternoon, reflecting on the day’s incredible adventure.
Itinerary
We leave Cusco very early towards the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy breakfast before continuing to the starting point of the hike in Phulawasipata. The walk takes us through impressive Andean landscapes, grasslands and small communities, with the imposing presence of the surrounding mountains. As we ascend, the air becomes colder and the vegetation changes, setting the stage for the spectacular view that awaits us.
After approximately 3 hours of walking, we arrive at the Mountain of Colors, where we can appreciate the incredible geological formations and their vibrant colors that range from red to yellow and green. We will have time to rest, take photographs and enjoy the landscape before descending and returning to Cusipata for a well-deserved lunch. Finally, we return to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.
